Blinking Cursor LLC built Goody Points, a mobile app providing simple parenting tools for adult parents of young children.
Because the subject matter and audio/visual content are designed to appeal to children, we are especially thoughtful about the personal information we ask you to provide and the personal information we collect through our app's operation.
We will never share your information.
Below is our privacy policy and applies to all information collected or submitted through the Goody Points app on the iOS and Android platforms.
New Goody Points accounts are created anonymously, without email addresses or passwords.
You may optionally add an email address and a password to your account if you decide to enable syncing between devices. You may remove the email address and password from your account at any time from the Goody Points app settings screen. We only use email addresses for login and password resets for enabling device sync.
We do not store personally identifiable information beyond your email address (should you opt-in to enable the syncing feature).
During normal use of the app, you may decide to submit a nickname for your child. We store this nickname as part of the data associated with your account. We will not share it or use it for any other purpose beyond providing it for your use within the context of your account while using the app.
We collect information for persisting customizations and settings associated with your account. For example, you may decide to save a name, duration, and color for a countdown timer. We store these details in our database for your routine use across your devices as a convenience feature. We store this data for technical reasons, even if you do not opt-in for the device syncing feature. You can delete the saved timers and this data at any time from within the app.
We also collect temporary information to enable active, real-time functionality. For instance, you may decide to start a countdown timer within the app. This feature requires temporarily storing start time and duration information externally in our database to allow countdowns to continue while the app is closed and to sync across your devices if applicable. Keeping these details on our servers provides a more precise method to track time and notify you upon completion.
The following section clarifies our use of technology as it pertains to the information we collect.
We use Firebase Authentication to enable end-user authentication and account management. This service will collect the email address and password you provide if you choose to create a Goody Points account. It also uses user-agent strings and IP addresses to provide added security and prevent abuse during sign-up and authentication. We only offer an email authentication option at this time. See the Firebase Privacy Policy for more information.
We use Firebase Realtime Database to store and serve user-provided data. Realtime Database uses IP addresses and user agents to enable the profiler tool, which helps provides usage trends and platform breakdowns. Realtime Database keeps IP addresses and user agent information for a few days, unless a customer chooses to save it for longer. See the Firebase Privacy Policy for more details.
The Goody Points app collects aggregate, anonymous statistics, such as the percentage of users who use particular features to improve the app. We use the services provided by Apple's App Store Connect for iOS app versions and Google Play Console for Android app versions. In addition to these basic analytics tools, we use Mixpanel.
We use this product analytics software to help improve Goody Points for our users. Mixpanel does not engage in "tracking" as defined, for instance, by Apple. It does not combine their data with third-party data or share data with data brokers. Goody Points does not use Mixpanel for targeted advertising or advertising measurement purposes.
For users who create an account for device syncing, we may collect the supplied email addresses in Mixpanel, but only to trace general user behavior for product analysis. We do not send emails to any of our users for marketing purposes.
For legal and compliance purposes, Mixpanel does collect "coarse" location information–like city, state, and country but does not collect precise location information.
To learn more, please review Mixpanel's Privacy Policy.
We collect log information when you use the app. Like most apps, we collect information that mobile devices typically make available, including the IP address, unique device identifiers, language preference, the date and time of access, operating system, and mobile network information.
If you enable notifications, we must store a token in order to send them. We never use notifications for marketing purposes.
We do not serve ads to our users.
We use the information we collect to operate and improve our app and to provide customer support.
We do not share personal information with outside parties except to the extent necessary for the functionality of the Goody Points app.
We may sell to, buy, merge with, or partner with other businesses in the future. In such transactions, user information may be among the transferred assets to the limited extent we have it.
We value your trust in providing us your personal information. Thus we strive to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no transmission method over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
This service may contain links to other sites. For instance, we feature links to Twitter. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site using the default browser on your device. Note that we do not operate these external sites. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the privacy policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
The California Consumer Privacy Act or "CCPA" affords consumers residing in California certain rights concerning their personal information. We comply with the CCPA and will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent.
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act "COPPA" gives parents control over what information apps can collect from their kids under the age of 13. COPPA applies to kids' apps, but it may also apply to apps aimed at parents but directed at kids. While we created the Goody Points app primarily for parental use, the app is designed for kids to view under the guidance of a parent or adult caregiver.
We planned the visual and audio content specifically to appeal to kids in such a way as to serve more effectively as a tool for parents. In other words, the app uses colors and iconography, in general, to help kids understand arbitrary goals and incentives. For example, we designed a countdown timer to be visually understandable when shown to a young child by a parent.
Because parents will involve kids under 13 during regular usage of the Goody Points app, we take compliance with the privacy standards set forth in COPPA very seriously. We only collect information from adult parents. We do not knowingly collect personal information as defined by COPPA from children under 13.
We do not collect first and last name, only a nickname if a parent chooses to provide one. We do not collect any other information remotely related to personal information from a child under 13.
In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@goodypoints.com so that we will be able to take necessary actions.
For more information about COPPA, please visit the ftc.gov website section on children's privacy of call (877) FTC-HELP.
We may update our privacy policy from time to time. Thus, we advise you to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page.
This policy is effective as of 2020-10-06.
If you have any questions or suggestions about our privacy policy, do not hesitate to contact us at info@goodypoints.com.
